Donald Trump Muslim ban ‘neither Christian nor rational’ – Archbishop of Canterbury

The Archbishop of Canterbury has taken aim at Donald Trump and Nigel Farage as he called for more immigration to the UK insisting the country is not “full”.

Speaking to MPs, he accused the Ukip leader of “giving legitimisation to racism” with claims that women could be at risk of mass sex attacks by gangs of migrant men if Britain stays in the EU.

He also echoed Pope Francis’s suggestion that the US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was “not Christian”.

He added that he thought the billionaire’s policy of banning Muslims from entering America was unchristian and irrational.

He used the appearance to clarify comments in a recent interview that fear of immigration is understandable and that it was “outrageous” to condemn those who voice such fears as racist.
