Church Plans to Burn Qur’an: Is This Evangelism?

A Gainesville, Fla, pastor claims the Bible’s lesson of brotherly love and truth commands it to burn the Quran on an Islamic holy day.

Evidently, the Dove World Outreach Center, which calls itself “a New Testament, Charismatic, Non-Denominational Church that believes in the whole Bible,” was not content with the outrage prompted by a roadside sign posted this month, “Islam is of the Devil.”

Now, according to Religion News Service, the church is planning “International Burn A Quran Day,” on the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks this year — smack during Eid al-Fitr, the Islamic feast days at the conclusion of the Ramadan fast.

  1. I totally agree!! These people are only out to start a war—by insulting what the Moslems consider holy will not bring them to Christ. It will only turn them away.We need to show them love not hate. This is not what Jesus would do.
And I don’t think the people planning to burn the Quran are Christian—they may think they are, but their actions speak otherwise. We need to pray for them so they will be stopped, and that they will repent in sorrow for their sin and properly accept Christ Jesus as their Savior and Lord. We pray they will see the light before they do this dastardly deed.
